Prepare a useful coding-session handoff

You are stopping halfway through a change. Leave the next session an explicit goal, a record of validation and the unresolved decisions, alongside the repository snapshot.

Capture a repository snapshot

In Claude Code, /ashlr-handoff is an alias for the dashboard handoff mode. It prints branch state, recent commits, genome status and tool usage as plain text for the next session.

Resume from the available log

/ashlr-resume summarizes the most recent session, with an optional branch argument. It reads the active session log and rotated backups without modifying them. When no log exists, it reports that no prior sessions were found.

Write down what the log cannot recover

The resume log records tool names and working directories, not individual file paths, search strings or shell commands. Add the exact files, tests and remaining decisions to your handoff yourself; the activity summary cannot reconstruct them.

Try this workflow

  1. Install the Claude Code integration using the host-specific guide.
  2. Run /ashlr-handoff before stopping and append your goal, changed files, test results and next step.
  3. In the next session, run /ashlr-resume and verify the current branch and working tree before continuing.

Append: goal, files changed, tests run and their results, unresolved decisions, and the next concrete step. Do not include credentials or private command arguments.

Install and verify your host integration or open the quick install commands.
